As I have gotten more involved in running in general and with the Atlanta running community more specifically, I have discovered a number of really great running resources that I have gathered together here. Great for 3 Day for the Cure walkers too!
THE place on the web to find and register for races all over the country. The Active blog also features great training advice and racing tips not just for running but for all kinds of athletic events. Also the place to go to download training plans for everything from 5Ks to marathons.
The local Atlanta runners group – open to runners of all ages and experience. The ATC organizes races all over the greater Atlanta area and helps to unite Atlanta runners through training groups, group runs and fun events. ATC members get discounted (or free!) entry into all ATC races and training groups. A wonderful support group for anyone that runs in the Atlanta area (like me!).
My go to resource for running shoes and gear, both for running AND the 3 Day. This store was founded by Jeff Galloway in the 1970s and has been helping runners out ever since. Because this store is owned, operated and staffed by runners, they really know their stuff. There are two locations in Atlanta (one in Sandy Springs and one in Midtown), both of which also host weekly group runs (Sandy Springs on Wednesday nights and Midtown on Thursday nights). The Midtown store is right up the street from my house and I have participated in (or will be participating in) two of their training groups – Women on the Move for the Atlanta Women’s 5K and In-Training for the Peachtree Road Race.
Other wonderful running specialty stores in the Atlanta area. If you need shoes, gear or a running buddy, definitely check these guys out!
